A special letter to One Spirit following race day
I returned to work on Monday, rejuvenated and excited. This weekend was absolutely amazing. I had such a lovely time with everyone and it was so nice to finally meet you and Jeri. Thank you so much for what was an unforgettable experience. I came home telling my friends and family what lovely women you and Jeri are and all the amazing things you are doing for the Pine Ridge reservation. For many months, I only saw the negative things on the reservation but after working on the reservation with my research project and after meeting you and the One Spirit Team I now see the good things that are happening first hand on the reservation.
My love for running has been my medicine for the hard days in my life and it has gotten me through a lot of ups and downs in my life and I hope and pray that it does the same for the One Spirit team and for the Pine Ridge reservation. I am so thankful for the beautiful relationships that were made and I’m excited to learn more about everyone, because each of their life stories are so inspiring and encouraging. I look forward to more running adventures with everyone.
I mentioned One Spirit to my family and friends and they were all quick to ask how they can begin to help. It’s definitely a movement I am excited to be a part of and excited to see the lives that will be changed from it. Please keep me posted on upcoming events and I will definitely do my best to be a part of it. And as for the NYC marathon please let me know if you are in need of another runner, my new running shoes are ready to hit the pavement.
Again, thank you so much for an amazing weekend. Words cannot express how grateful I am.
