.... in Solidarity Against White Supremacists

"I believe in recognizing every human being as a human being, neither white, black, brown, or red. When you are dealing with humanity as one family, there's no question of integration or intermarriage. It's just one human being marrying another human being, or one human being living around and with another human being."

Given the highly charged racial atmosphere prevailing in today's America, with a President who has belittled people as "Pocahontas" and "The Indian," and who will not condemn the riots in Charlottesville, Virginia August 12 as the result of unconscionable racism and intolerance by white supremacists, it is useful to reread the above quotation. It was made by Malcolm X, who surely earned the hatred of the same segment of society that marched with their Nazi and rebel flags last weekend, chanting their hate-filled slogans.
We join with all people of good faith who reject this disgusting hatred. Native Americans were victims of the first genocide in this country, yet today remain largely outcast and impoverished. One Spirit exists to try and help right the terrible wrongs already suffered by providing nutritional and cultural support for the Lakota people.

Chief Joseph of the Nez Perce

The hatred and intolerance on display in Charlottesville are not America, and we utterly reject the perpetrators.
In the words of Nez Perce Chief Joseph,
"Treat all men alike. Give them all the same law. Give them all an even chance to live and grow. All men were made by the same Great Spirit Chief. They are all brothers. The Earth is the mother of all people, and all people should have equal rights upon it."
