Meat House and TipiWe are pleased to announce that One Spirit has received a $6900 grant from the Black Hills Area Community Foundation. These funds will be used to buy needed equipment for The Buffalo House Meat Processing facility and will directly help provide the traditional meat needed by the Lakota to prevent the diet related diseases that are so rampant on the Reservation.

This project is a huge first step toward the goal of ending hunger on the Reservation.

“The Buffalo House Project will do two things – help end hunger on the Reservation and support economic development. These are two basics that must happen to allow the Lakota to become once again a self-sufficient nation.”

Along with the generosity of the Black Hills Area Community foundation, we need your help to open the doors of this enterprise. Donors to this project will be recognized on a permanent plaque placed in this facility.

Please join us to Bring back the Buffalo to the Lakota people.

Bamm and members of BHACF

The Black Hills Area Community Foundation (BHACF) awards annual grants through a competitive application and review process. Through the Quality of Life Grants process the BHACF supports a wide variety of proposals in: Arts and culture, environment and conservation, education, youth and children, social services, and community and economic development. Requests can support projects, programs, capital projects and general operating support. “We are proud to be able to respond to our communities changing needs and offer support to the nonprofits that make our region a better place everyday. The information that the applicants share with us helps our organization grow in understanding the issues and concerns of people in our community,” says Liz Hamburg, Executive Director of the Black Hills Area Community Foundation.

- End hunger.

- Support economic development.

Two basics to allow the Lakota to become once again a self-sufficient nation

We are so close to the finish line...

We are only $5,000 from meeting our $20,000 grant challenge. By helping us finish the buffalo house, you are empowering the Lakota to feed their people and achieve self-sufficiency. Your support will make a huge impact in the lives of an entire community.

Thank you for standing with the Lakota to make this dream come true.
