Our Next Steps
The Charging Buffalo facility is just one step of many to develop sustainable foods on Pine Ridge Reservation.
- Making traditional meats available for the Food Program
- Local produce from Lakota gardens
- Creating local employment
- Keeping funds on the reservation
It will be a game-changer in ending hunger.
Listen to the Voice of a Lakota Elder
The call from this elder touched our hearts and made the day special for all who work on the food program. We wanted all who donate and make this food possible to also hear her message. It is calls like this and seeing the faces of people on the food routes or who walk into the building that makes all of us understand the reason for what we do. To the food workers, "it makes us feel like superheroes - that's what we are to them."
From one of the delivery drivers, "It feels so good delivering to all the people I know that are without food and making a difference. They are so glad to see us."
From the hearts of the Lakota people and all of One Spirit, we humbly thank all who help make the food possible.

All over the country one thing is for sure. It is winter, but on Pine Ridge Reservation it is a polar Ice Age!
The progress will soon continue on our ever so important project. We are now preparing to insulate and sheet rock the interior of the building. After that will be the commercial grade glass board, which is a requirement for commercial food-handling buildings. This project is very close to being operational at the current time.
